Shortly after joining the Omnicom family, I realized I had found a home. Omnicom has made it clear that as a company they value and respect diversity and inclusion. Through trainings, seminars, company-wide talks, and keeping their commitment to MAIP, Omnicom and Patients and Purpose have created a welcoming environment that welcomes and embraces talent of all backgrounds.
As someone who is passionate about community building, I imagined it would be difficult to form bonds and connections with my coworkers in New York while I was in Orlando. Inspired by Omnicom's commitment to stay connected through COVID, I looked for ways to be part of the community and contribute to the nurturing environment P&P has provided.
That's when I found OPEN Pride! OPEN Pride leads company-wide efforts to promote awareness, acceptance and advocacy by creating opportunities for leadership, visibility, community involvement, networking and business. They create alliances with other OPEN diversity groups and foster an inclusive and engaging work environment for Omnicom’s LGBT community and its allies.

June 2020 was a unique pride month. There were no big celebrations or parades, and as the month came to an end, Open Pride was looking for ways to celebrate queer history. We choose to have a movie night and watched Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen. Disclosure is a documentary film that follows an in-depth look at Hollywood's depiction of transgender people and the impact of their stories on transgender lives and American culture. We followed the movie night by hosting a Q+A session where participants could learn more about Trans identities.
Pride month is an important celebration of all the strides the LGBTQ+ community has made. We wanted to give participants something they could take with them but faced the issue of being divided by a computer screen. I suggested we try a digital swag bag. Included were several phone wallpapers, instagram highlight icons, and resource pages featuring LGBTQ+ activists to follow on social media and black led LGBTQ+ organizations.

You can find some of the materials from the Digital Pride Swag Bag below!
